Greater food safety and risk assessment thanks to international knowledge exchange The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Summer Academy enters its 14th year
What it's about:
“By experts, for experts”: this is the motto under which the Summer Academy of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) is taking place again this year. From 15 to 19 June 2026, participants from a total of 40 countries will gain insights into various areas of food safety, risk assessment and risk communication. In addition to knowledge transfer, international networking is at the heart of the Summer Academy. “Food safety does not stop at national borders – quite the contrary: food often passes through several countries. This is precisely why cross-border scientific exchange is essential for consumer health protection,” says Professor Andreas Hensel, President of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment.
For the 14th time, experienced BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment scientists and external experts in the field of chemical and microbiological risk assessment and communication are sharing their knowledge. In various sessions, participants will address topics such as exposureExposureTo glossary, risk assessment, toxicology, contaminants in food and risk communication. In addition, participants will be given an overview of the legal framework for food safety in Germany and Europe.
This year, the event is taking place online as a series of lectures.
