In Germany, the typical natural iodine concentrations in food are not high enough to ensure an adequate intake of iodine for the general population. As a result of a recommendation to use iodised table salt in the food industry, artisanal food retail and private households, iodine intake in the general population in Germany has improved since the mid-1980's.

The public's level of information about some aspects of the novel coronavirus is on the rise again: 66 percent of respondents in the latest Corona-Monitor report they feel well informed about the symptoms of coronavirus disease, up from 61 percent last month. In addition, the percentage of people who feel well informed about the procedure in case of a suspected infection has increased from 62 to 67 percent.

BfR evaluates data on the frequency and consumption quantities of antibiotic use. The BfR evaluated the data from the eight half-years, from the first half of 2018 to the second half of 2021, and compared it with the situation in 2017.
