BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission on Nutritional Risks, Novel Foods and Allergies
The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission on Nutritional Risks, Novel Foods and Allergies supports the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in its tasks of preparing scientific risk assessments on food safety and consumer protection with regard to human health to provide scientific advice to federal ministries and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVLshort forGerman Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety) and to contribute scientific expertise to international bodies.
Tasks
The commission is tasked with providing expert advice to the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment on matters related to the health risk assessment of food ingredients, foods for general consumption (External Link:food supplements, fortified foods), foods for specific groups (e.g. foods for infants and young children, foods for special medical purposes), External Link:novel foods and novel food ingredients. In addition, the Commission advises the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment on selected issues related to External Link:nutritional risks and External Link:allergies that may be caused by food.
The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission on Nutritional Risks, Novel Foods and Allergies comprises scientists with proven expertise, for example from universities, colleges, federal state investigation offices and federal research institutes.
