Kicking off the “Year of Diversity” BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment signs Diversity Charter

By signing the Diversity Charter, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) is underlining its commitment to an appreciative, respectful working culture in which diversity is recognised, promoted and utilised. The signing on 20 January 2026 also marks the start of the “Year of Diversity” at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. “The diversity of people with their different abilities, experiences and perspectives opens up opportunities for good cooperation and innovative solutions. The Diversity Charter provides a framework for this, which we at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment will continue to fill with life,” says BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment President Professor Andreas Hensel.
By signing the Diversity Charter, the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment becomes part of a nationwide network of organisations that take responsibility for a non-discriminatory and inclusive working environment. The “Year of Diversity” at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment will be accompanied by regular exchange and dialogue formats as well as participatory activities that highlight diversity and encourage reflection. The focus will be on the experiences, perspectives and ideas of employees. The aim is not to discuss diversity and appreciation in abstract terms, but to anchor them in everyday working life.
Background
The Diversity Charter is the largest employer initiative in Germany for promoting diversity in the workplace. Signatories commit to creating a working environment that is free of prejudice, regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation and social background.
