On 8 July 2025, a Moldovan delegation visited the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment). Representatives of the Moldovan National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), the National Centre for Animal and Plant Health and Food Safety (PI NCAPHFS) and the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) gathered in Berlin to spend part of their study trip to Germany at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and gain an insight into the institute's risk assessment structures.
Afterwards, the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, ANSA and PI NCAPHFS signed a joint declaration of intent to strengthen the knowledge exchange on risk assessment and risk communication in food and feed safety and to promote the knowledge and experience transfer between the two countries.
On 8 July 2025, a delegation from Moldova visited the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment). Among the participants were representatives of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), the National Centre for Animal and Plant Health and Food Safety (PI NCAPHFS) and the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA). This was already the third official meeting between the institutions this year.
The aim of the delegation visit was to establish a long-term dialogue between the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and its Moldovan partner institutions in order to strengthen German-Moldovan cooperation in the field of risk assessment and risk communication on food and feed safety and to establish a strong network in this area. To this end, a joint declaration of intent was signed by BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment President Professor Andreas Hensel, ANSA President Radu Musteata and PI NCAPHFS Director Tatiana Rotari.
The declaration aims to strengthen the knowledge exchange on an expert level and to expand scientific and technological cooperation through research and cooperation programmes. In addition, the three institutes plan to hold regular meetings in Moldova and Germany.
During their visit, the delegation spent a day gaining insights into the work of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and visited two of the institute's four locations in Berlin. In addition, BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment experts presented the work carried out in the departments of Risk Communication, Food and Feed Safety in the Food Chain, Pesticide Safety and Biological Safety. This was followed by a dialogue on topics including the development and coordination of scientific projects and crisis preparedness.

The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) is a scientifically independent public health institute within the portfolio of the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH). The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment advises the Federal Government and the States (‘Laender’) on questions related to food, feed, chemical and product safety. The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment conducts independent research on topics that are closely linked to its assessment tasks.
