Office management assistant

Are you a true organisational talent, communicative, cooperative and love working in a team? Would you like to know how administrative tasks are solved and how everyday office life is organised?

During your 3-year apprenticeship as an office management assistant, you will gain an insight into the various office processes at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. For example, you will rotate through the departments Personnel, Budget and Organisation in the Central Department to gain a comprehensive overview of the various administrative areas. You will coordinate appointments and prepare meetings. Your tasks will also include processing internal and external correspondence, creating presentations and researching information and preparing the data in an appealing way. In addition to working on the computer, you will have a lot to do with your colleagues at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment.

Chemical laboratory technician

Chemistry, you can't see it, but you can control it through ingenuity and conscientious work and create something new in the process. Are you fascinated by this hidden world of chemistry?

During the 3.5-year dual system apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory technician, you will immerse yourself in this hidden world. Together with our scientific teams, you will work in the laboratory and have tasks in scientific and medical areas of research. In your experiments, you will investigate mixtures of substances and chemical processes. During your training, you will work with our scientists and gain exciting and varied insights into chemistry.

The most important tasks of a chemical laboratory technician include

Analysing: You analyse your samples carefully and accurately, your samples can be food samples, water samples and other tests.

Keeping a log: You log all the results of your analyses, which you can then use to calculate other values such as the density of a substance.

Testing products: In the laboratory, you test products to see whether they contain toxic substances and do not exceed the limit value.

Your prospects: Chemical laboratory technicians work in federal and state institutes and research facilities or in research companies in industry. Biology laboratory technician

Biology and chemistry are your favorite subjects? Are you interested in the natural sciences and do microbiological and macrobiological investigations or food analyses sound exciting to you?

During the 3.5-year dual system apprenticeship as a biology laboratory technician, this is exactly what you will learn. You will acquire knowledge in various areas of biology such as cell biology, microbiology, genetics and laboratory work. During your training, you will work together with our scientists and gain exciting and varied insights into biology.

The most important tasks of a biology laboratory technician include

Planning experiments: What should be analysed and which laboratory equipments are needed?

Carrying out tests and studies: Samples are taken from plants or food, for example, these samples are mixed with other substances in a test tube and then analysed. Cells are also examined and analysed under an electron microscope using random samples.

Creating cell cultures: Cell structures are examined by taking samples from plants or animals and creating cultures on a special culture medium where the cells can multiply optimally.

Your prospects: Biology laboratory technicians work in federal and state institutes and research facilities or in research companies in the free market economy. Animal keeper specialising in research and clinic

Are you not afraid of animals and do you like practical work?

During your 3-year dual training as an animal keeper in research and clinics, you will care for and breed the animals on the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment-approved farm. You will learn a lot about the behaviour and physiology of the animals in your care. At the same time, you can contribute to research. You will work with our research teams in the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment's animal houses. Together with your colleagues, you will take care of the animals and ensure a hygienic environment. You will help with the collection of test materials, e.g. blood or metabolic products. Animal welfare is an essential part of our work and research in accordance with the 3Rs principle.

The most important tasks of an animal keeper include

Caring for the animals: You feed the animals according to the feeding plan and ensure that they are kept correctly by implementing the hygiene concept.

Diagnostics: Here it is important that you recognise sick animals and treat them accordingly.

Data documentation: Keeping hygiene lists, observing and documenting animal behaviour.

IT system integration / IT specialist for system integration

Do you like variety and are you flexible? The day of an IT specialist for system integration can be characterised in this way. Sometimes you can act with foresight, sometimes you have to react spontaneously to problems and find a solution with the help of analytical thinking.

During your 3-year dual training as an IT specialist for system integration, you will initially work on simple tasks under supervision. You will learn how computers and networks work, what servers are and how they communicate with other devices. Over time, you will then take on more and more responsibility. You will learn to solve problems independently, set up systems and manage projects. At the end of your training, you will be able to manage networks independently and solve IT problems to support your colleagues.

The most important tasks of an IT specialist for system integration include

Planning and setting up IT systems: You plan which IT systems are needed and then install and set them up. You connect hardware and software so that everything works together in the end.

Maintenance and care of systems: IT systems should always function reliably, which they do if they are regularly maintained and checked. You look for errors or problems, repair them and ensure that everything runs smoothly and failures are avoided.

During your training, you will get to know different areas of responsibility in order to develop software that is perfectly tailored to users. Together with your team, you will develop new applications and regular meetings will be an integral part of your day-to-day work.

The most important tasks of an application developer include

System integration: You network PCs with the server and set up computer systems after you have set them up.

Data and process analysis: You develop online systems for accounting or customer service so that business processes can run online.

Digital networking: You network systems and applications at IT level.

During your 3.5-year apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering, you will learn everything about electrical equipment in buildings and their safe supply with electrical energy. Your tasks will include the installation and maintenance of electrical systems as well as fault diagnosis and repair. The training takes place in the dual system (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and vocational school as well as in cooperation with Siemens).
