Early risk detection

What it´s about

The findings from early risk detection are used to develop options for risk management.

Our task

One focus of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment is the development and implementation of early risk detection methods. This serves to identify, characterize and – if possible – quantify emerging risks in consumer-relevant areas at an early stage. The aim is to develop options for risk management measures in a timely manner in order to be able to respond quickly and appropriately to the respective situation.

Early risk detection at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment is integrated into the international network EREN (Emerging Risk Exchange Network) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority), which enables the Europe-wide exchange of information on early risk detection.
