Description and Objective

The project deals with the validation of test methods currently undergoing pre-validation for the assessment of chemicals with regard to their effect on key activities of thyroid function and thus the identification of potential endocrine disruptors. The focused assays (sodium iodide symporter, thyroperoxidase activity, deiodinase 1-3) will be finalized and validated primarily by the partners BASF and BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, with the aim of integrating them into a test strategy. In order to ensure the long-term availability of the test systems under FRAND conditions, they are being “redeveloped” (primarily by the partners Charité, FU Berlin, and InSCREENEx) and used in validation.
