Description and Objective

The EU-funded POLYRISK project investigates human exposure and potential toxic effects for humans caused by micro- and nanoplastic particles. POLYRISK considers occupational and consumer exposure. A special emphasis is put on potential adverse effects on the immune system. POLYRISK furthermore aims to develop a comprehensive risk assessment framework for micro- and nanoplastics and test this framework using selected case studies.
