Description and Objective

The Ukrainian food chain is in a crisis situation, exacerbated by the ongoing war, which can lead to an increased spread of antimicrobial-resistant (AMRshort forAntimicrobial resistance) microbes among the population. This project aims to investigate these risks and mitigate them through risk analysis and intervention. By combining the expertise of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and Ukraine's NUBiP through collaboration, we can strengthen risk assessment, research, and innovation in the prevention, detection, response, and mitigation of threats to agricultural production, feed, and food. The ongoing crisis in Ukraine provides a unique opportunity to study the consequences of disruptions to the food chain and learn from them, enabling us to develop more effective strategies to mitigate similar risks in the future. By analyzing the impact of the war on Ukraine's food system, we can gain valuable insights into the interdependence of food security, public health, and economic stability. These insights will inform evidence-based policy and interventions, ultimately improving our collective ability to respond to and prevent crises in the global food system. In Ukraine, households play an important role in food production, providing a significant portion of milk, beef, veal, and pork production. However, research has shown that farmers' markets can be hotspots for foodborne disease outbreaks, as seen in the US market. Currently, there is a lack of research and monitoring of Ukrainian farmers' markets, especially under the current circumstances. This situation presents both a need and an opportunity to learn from this crisis and develop strategies to mitigate
