Description and Objective

The aim of the project is to explore Large Language Models (LLMs) for the codification of foods in the FoodEx2 system using textual descriptions. This will be based on experience feedback from existing ML tools - in particular SCA - used by EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority and Member States for FoodEx2 codification (or classification of foods in other relevant nomenclatures) and improved for model training and testing purposes by integrating external food databases containing FoodEx2 or other relevant codification nomenclatures.
