Description and Objective

The main objectives of the PFAS Initiative Group are to share and exchange information and build collaborative approaches in the field of the risk assessment of PFAS between Member States and EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority. The specific objectives of the PFAS Initiative Group are enhancing risk assessment practices and methodologies within the scope of safety, and the exchange of data and information between participants of Member States and EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority by: • sharing information on the analysis of PFAS, e.g., laboratory capabilities and other techniques; • sharing occurrence data of PFAS in food, feed, water, air and soil; • sharing toxicological data of PFAS including mechanisms of action, mixture effects, and grouping assessments; • sharing risk assessment expertise and experiences; • discussing issues of availability and quality of data required for PFAS risk assessment; • identifying data gaps; • sharing and discussing risk assessment methodology and results; • discussing new scientific developments in PFAS risk assessment and discussing their implications on risk assessment practices, such as the development of PFAS grouping assessment approaches; • Creating the link with EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority CONTAM panel activities on PFAS substances; • sharing regular information from Members States, EC or external sources in the field of PFAS risk assessment, risk management or any relevant fields; • Sharing MS national mandates.
