The objective of the
EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority grant is the evaluation of new available evidence on non-dietary exposure to plant protection products (PPP) for the next update of the "Guidance on the assessment of exposure of operators, workers, residents and bystanders in risk assessment of plant protection products" (OPEX) and related Calculator (
EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority, 2022; https://doi.org/10.2903/j.efsa.2022.7032 ). It is organised in three work packages (WP):
1. SeedTropex (Exposure Model for Seed Treatment and Seed Sowing)
2. Resident and Bystander exposure
3. Worker exposure, DFR (Dislodgeable Foliar Residue), DT50 (time required for 50% dissipation
of the initial concentration)
The following activities are required for each WP:
1. Collection of evidence: exposure data submitted to
EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority as well as data identified during a systematic literature search will be collected and described in an agreed overview template
2. Analysis of evidence: Evaluation of data and related models according to quality criteria developed with
EFSAshort forEuropean Food Safety Authority; the expected outcomes are new and updated scenarios and parameters as well as the development and validation of additional/revised formulas for an update of the OPEX guidance and calculator
3. Reporting of the analysis: results on data collection, selection and analysis will be provided in 3 interim reports and a draft and final report on the evidence assessment
The work will be shared amongst a consortium consisting of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES), the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (
BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment), the Benaki Phytopathological Institute (BPI), the University of Turin and the University of Milan.
