Description and Objective

The aim of the project was the validation and standardization of a method for the determination of pyrrolizdine alkaloids in various feedstuffs for the development of an European standard. The NRL for Mycotoxins and Plant Toxins, located at BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, provided the corresponding draft method, organized and evaluated the method validation study, and drafted and finalized the standard. The method was published as European Standard "EN 17683:2023: Animal feeding stuffs: Methods of sampling and analysis – Determination of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in animal feeding stuff by LC-MS/MS" and has additionally been published as a DIN Norm: "Futtermittel - Probenahme- und Untersuchungsverfahren - Bestimmung von Pyrrolizidinalkaloiden in Futtermitteln mittels LC-MS/MS; Deutsche Fassung EN 17683:2023".

Result

The method was published as European Standard "EN 17683:2023: Animal feeding stuffs: Methods of sampling and analysis – Determination of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in animal feeding stuff by LC-MS/MS" and has additionally been published as a DIN Norm: "Futtermittel - Probenahme- und Untersuchungsverfahren - Bestimmung von Pyrrolizidinalkaloiden in Futtermitteln mittels LC-MS/MS; Deutsche Fassung EN 17683:2023".
