Description and Objective

Challenge: Risk Assessment (RA) is a not very well-known scientific discipline. Thus, sufficient training opportunities in the field of RA are limited, which leads to a growing need for Capacity Building in food and feed RA. Project objective: The project aims to establish a European Excellence Label (EEL) by 2025, which is useed as a seal of quality for courses in Food Safety RA. The EEL promotes high-quality trainings in the field of Food Safety Risk Assessment and provides orientation to interested individuals and organizations on knowledge and skills that are indispensable for a risk assessor. By awarding the EEL, standards for RA trainings are harmonized. The labeled trainings are provided at a higher level, with a broader portfolio, better accessibility and a larger pool of tutoring experts. The increased visibility of high-quality trainings results in a widened pool of competently trained food safety risk assessors. In the long term, this will strengthen the European risk assessment network by developing the RA knowledge community on MS and EU level.
