Materials and links on perfluorinated compounds
Perfluorinated tensides (PFT) are an important group of industrial chemicals. They are used in numerous consumer products, for example in water, dirt and grease-repellent finishes for carpets, clothing and paper/cardboard packaging for food.
Some representatives (perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)) are extremely stable and remain in the human organism for a long time after intake. In animal experiments, PFOS and PFOA have shown hepatotoxic, carcinogenic and reprotoxic properties.
