Phages: Potential Lifesavers

The enemy of my enemy is my friend - phages, bacteria and One Health

 The project "The enemy of my enemy is my friend - phages, bacteria and One Health" comes from our department "Biological Safety". For more than two years now, BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment has been investigating whether and how phages can be used to combat bacteria. Bacteriophages are viruses that are able to dock onto a bacterium, invade and destroy it from the inside. They can thus be an important alternative to the use of antibiotics and even save lives in the case of severe bacterial infections
