Outstanding BfR research project no. 3: "Phenotypic Screening at the Bf3R - tracking down cancer with robots, microscopes and artificial intelligence"

21.11.2022 2:02 Min

The project "Phenotypic Screening at the Bf3R - tracking down cancer with robots, microscopes and artificial intelligence" comes from our department "Experimental Toxicology and ZEBET", more precisely from the "German Centre for the Protection of Laboratory Animals (Bf3R)". The Bf3R researches the development of non-animal test methods. These are used, for example, to detect substances that may be involved in the development of diseases such as cancer. The "phenotypic screening" method was established for this purpose. Using special staining methods, the different components of cells are made visible and measurable. The aim is to understand the mechanisms of action of substances and mixtures and to make predictions about possible health hazards.
