Project description:

The project aims to estimate the overall health impact of replacing red meat with a novel food. In particular, a series of risk-benefit assessments evaluating the various health impacts of replacing red meat with edible insects as a case study for novel foods will be performed and to strategies to communicate the results designed.

A. domesticus is used as a basis for the modelling process. The  BfR will design a strategy on how to communicate results to the public, risk managers, competent authorities of the EU Member States and industry.
