Poly- and perfluoralkyl substances (PFAS/PFC)

Perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS/PFC) are a large group of industrial chemicals that are used in numerous industrial processes and consumer products due to their special technical properties.

Due to their water, grease and dirt-repellent properties, they are often used in industrial processes and are processed in numerous consumer products such as paper, textiles, non-stick pans and cosmetics. PFAS are poorly degradable and can be detected in the environment, in the food chain and in human blood.
