In Germany, a maximum quantity regulation for certain PCB compounds in food has been in force since 1988 in order to reduce PCB contamination. Since 1 July 2002, dioxins in feed and food have been regulated throughout the EU by maximum levels, which have also included dioxin-like PCBs since 4 November 2006. It is essential for consumer health protection to further reduce human exposureExposureTo glossary to dioxins and PCBs in food. Official feed and food controls are therefore of great importance and should be strengthened by the establishment of a corresponding national reference laboratory in all EU member states.
