Chemical products are usually complex mixtures of different ingredients. These can pose health risks to consumers due to their hazard potential, especially if they are not used as intended.

Consumers can recognise the hazards to some extent on the basis of the hazard labelling, but in the event of poisoning or suspected poisoning, knowledge of the exact formulation of the products is required to ensure the best medical care.
