The BfR as an employer

The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment was founded in 2002 to boost consumer health protection. It is the scientific institution of the Federal Republic of Germany which prepares expert reports and opinions on questions of food and feed safety, as well as the safety of substances and products. The main tasks of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment comprise the assessment of existing and identification of new health risks, the formulation of recommendations to limit risks and the communication of this process. This work results in the provision of scientific advice to political decision makers.

The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment performs the tasks of the "German Centre for the Protection of Laboratory Animals (Bf3R)" and coordinates all activities nationwide with the goals of limiting animal experiments to the absolutely necessary minimum level and guaranteeing the best possible protection to laboratory animals.
