BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission for Consumer Products

The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission for Consumer Products is responsible for advising on the health assessment of consumer products, covering a wide range of products: items that are intended to come into contact with food, such as kitchen utensils or packaging materials, items that come into contact with mucous membranes, such as cutlery and toothbrushes, as well as packaging for cosmetics, personal care items, toys, novelty items and numerous other products listed in Section 2 (6) of the German Food, Commodities and Feed Code (LFGB). The Commission will also address issues relating to other consumer-related products, such as furniture, mattresses, carpets and hobby products. In doing so, the Commission will focus on the health risks posed by substances in consumer goods.

Tasks

The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Commission for Commodities supports the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in its assessment tasks in the areas mentioned above.

A particularly important task is to advise the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment on the examination of applications for the inclusion of substances in the
