European One Health Association
The External Link:European One Health Association (EOHA) is an international scientific community of experts that aims to reinforce the integration of public health, food safety/animal health and relevant environmental scientific activities in cooperation with stakeholders. The Association builds on various previous activities. In its five years of work between 2004 and 2009, the Med-Vet-Net European Network of Excellence, established under the EU 6th Framework Programme, had created a network of more than 300 scientists from different disciplines, pooling expertise and resources in a “virtual institute” to effectively address the detection and control of zoonoses.
Med-Vet-Net Association
Subsequently, in 2009, the Med-Vet-Net Association was founded, in order to sustain joint research and training activities, disseminate scientific outcomes and expertise, as well as represent the interests of its partners towards European stakeholders. This project formed the basis of the consortium One Health European Joint Programme (2018-2023), funded under the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. In 2024, the Association changed its name to European One Health Association (EOHA), to reflect the expanded scope towards the environmental pillar of One Health. The (ultimate) goal of the EOHA is to support the implementation of the One Health approach and to improve the prevention, detection and control of zoonoses and address challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance threats in Europe and beyond. Its activities focus on building One Health structures, integration of One Health research, harmonisation of procedures and methodologies, and training of scientists of partner institutes.
