Study Centre Supply Chain Modelling and Artificial Intelligence

The Study Centre Supply Chain Modelling and Artificial Intelligence has been established to support the development of innovative IT solutions and model-based forecasting tools at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment.

It continues the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment's work on supply chain modelling and the establishment of harmonised exchange formats for risk assessment models within the External Link:RAKIP Initiative (Risk Assessment Knowledge Integration Platform). The aim is to develop solutions that the entire BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment can use.

The Study Centre's work notably focuses on the utilisation of methods from the field of artificial intelligence (AI) for assessment work at the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. The Study Centre is significantly involved in the work of the External Link:KIDA (Artificial Intelligence and Data Accelerator) project funded by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELshort forGerman Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture) and is developing solutions as part of this for the efficient provision of research data and models in machine-readable and interoperable formats.

Study Centre staff members are also involved in and coordinate several national and international research projects.

The work carried out at the Study Centre is divided into the following sub-areas:

• Coordination of BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment participation and implementation of project tasks within the KIDA project
• Management and expansion of the international External Link:RAKIP Initiative to develop resources that allow efficient exchange of assessment models in the One Health context. Part of this initiative is the further development of the External Link:Food Safety Knowledge Exchange (FSXK) External Link:Format
• Continuation of activities in the field of supply chain modelling, including leadership of an internal BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment working group on the topic. This focus also includes the constant continuation of software development projects such as External Link:PMM-Lab, External Link:FoodProcess-Lab, External Link:FSK-Lab
• BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment-wide support for users of the data analysis platform KNIME and administration of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment KNIME server instances. This includes the continuous further development of web services such as External Link:RAKIP-Web Model Repository, External Link:Flow of Goods Info, External Link:openFSMR, External Link:One Health Glossary.
• Participation in and application for third-party funded projects such as External Link:FoodDecide, External Link:EJP MATRIX, External Link:EJP COVRIN, External Link:Future Lab 2030, External Link:MicRisk 2030
