Unit National Poisoning Registry

Tasks

The unit is working on the establishment of a national poisoning registry. This registry will combine the reports of poisoning from the poison centres of the federal states (GIZ) in Germany and the medical reports of poisoning to the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and make them available for evaluation. The aim is to obtain an overview of the national poisoning situation in Germany.

This includes

  • receiving reports from the GIZ and performing technical and content-related quality assurance
  • electronic recording and processing (categorisation) of the reports
  • analysing the reports of poisoning to produce regular and ad hoc reports for BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment risk assessment
  • maintaining and further developing the register case database and reporting procedures
  • health assessments poisoning cases (focus on acute toxicology) as part of the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment's technical tasks

Participation in national and international research projects

The division designs, coordinates and participates in research and development projects in the field of human data use in regulatory toxicology.
