SeeingNano. Developing and Enabling Nanotechnology Awareness-Building through the Creation and Exchange of enhanced Communication and Visualisation Tools and Guidance for ‘Seeing at the Nanoscale’
Funding period of the project: 01/2015-12/2016
This third-party funded project is conducted in the framework of the BfR research on nanotechnology: detection, toxicology, risk assessment and risk perception
Project Number: 646141
Project homepage:: http://www.seeingnano.eu/
SeeingNano is supported by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. SeeingNano creates visualisation tools for enhanced nanotechnology knowledge and awareness of risks and benefits of nanotechnological applications. Through a coordinated approach leading experts collaborate in the relevant fields: the target audiences are analysed by social scientists, who - in collaboration with information visualisation experts - elaborate on appropriate tools to address the respective audiences. The scientific and technical content is provided by experts on nano-phenomena in collaboration with experts on nanotoxicology and risk communication. The target audiences include for yet unmet considered stakeholders and disseminators such as journalists, teachers, youngsters and elderly.
BfR part(s) of the project:
- Research on risk perception: results and methods
- Risk analyses and risk assessments for nanotechnology applications
- Analysis of key audiences
- Evaluation of visualisation tools
