Tailor-made activity 4.4b: Data Model Mapping Tool & 4.6b Data Capture @ point of sampling

10/2023-03/2026

Funding programme / funding institution: Europäische Behörde für Lebensmittelsicherheit (EFSA)

Grant number: GP/EEFSA/ENREL/2022/03-SA03

Project description:

The project aims at developing a data model mapping software based on machine learning algorithms and large language models. For the German side, the BVL contributes with expertise, test data, software testing and formulation of requirements. Each year, the EU member states provide huge amount of data to the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA). The challenge consists in mapping national into EFSA's data model. Most country fulfill this task with the help of manual translation of national into EFSA data. The resulting software should automatically map national data models into EFSA's SSD2 data format. In a first phase, a 12 month pre-study resulted in the identification and documentation of requirements, use cases, priorities and options regarding hardware and software architecture. Furthermore, a first prototype of the software was elaborated. In a planned implementation project over 30 months, this prototype should be further elaborated in order to develop a software ready for production mode. In consultation with EFSA the sub-project 4.6b will not be implemented.
