Questions and answers on the transfer of TBE viruses through raw milk

Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a viral disease transferred by ticks in most cases. In severe cases, infection can lead to an inflammation of the central nervous system.

As there are also isolated reports of consumers contracting an infection with TBE through the consumption of raw milk, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has compiled the following questions and answers on the subject.
