Scientific Advisory Board

The BfR Scientific Advisory Board has been in existence since the autumn of 2005. It consists of twelve scientists from various universities and non-university research institutions, the majority of them experts in the fields of food chemistry and technology, food safety and hygiene, and toxicology. The fields of occupational physiology, pharmacy and educational research are also represented. The board members work in an honorary capacity. They are appointed for four years and two further terms of office are possible.  The second appointment was made in June 2009.

Tasks

The main task of the BfR Scientific Advisory Board is to advise the Institute when setting priorities in research. In addition to this, it promotes contacts and cooperation between the BfR and other research institutions in Germany and abroad, and advises the Institute on the appointment of top-ranking scientists to the commissions attached to the BfR.
