Travelling to the BfR in Marienfelde by long-distance and regional rail

Please note that for travel within Berlin you need to buy a ticket for the tariff “Berlin AB” which you can purchase and stamp at any S-Bahn (suburban railway) or U-Bahn (underground railway) station. The ticket is valid for your journey to your destination and can be used when switching from S/U Bahn to bus.

 Arrival Berlin Central Station

  • From here you can take all the S-Bahn trains (direction Friedrichstraße) to Friedrich-straße (one Station).
  • From Friedrichstraße following the directions given for “Arrival Friedrichstraße railway station”.

The entire journey takes about 50 minutes.

Arrival Bahnhof Friedrichstraße

(This is where all the regional trains stop which operate on the axis Zoologischer Garten and Ostbahnhof)

  • At railway station Friedrichstraße take the suburban railway line S2 (direction Blankenfelde).
  • Get off at the stop “Buckower Chaussee“.
  • Exit the S-Bahn stop in the direction Buckower Chaussee. The bus stop is located on the left of the tracks on the opposite side of the street.
  • Take bus X 11 (direction U Dahlem Dorf) or M11 (direction U Oskar-Helene-Heim) and get off at the stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee
  • Cross over Nahmitzer Damm and take the footpath which leads directly to our Institute.

The entire journey takes about 30 minutes.

 Arrival  railway station Zoologischer Garten

  • Take U-Bahn (underground) line 9 (direction Rathaus Steglitz) to Rathaus Steglitz. The entrance to the underground station is located opposite the entrance to the railway station “Zoologischer Garten“.
  • At the underground station Rathaus Steglitz follow the signs for the buses X 83 (direction Lichtenrade, Nahariyastraße or Marienfelde, Marienfelder Allee/Nahmitzer Damm)
  • Take bus X83 and get off at the bus stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee“.
  • Take the footpath which leads directly to our Institute. 

The entire journey takes about 40 minutes.

Arrival long-distance railway station Ostbahnhof

  • From here you can take all the suburban railway lines (S-Bahn) (direction Zoologischer Garten) to Friedrichstraße.
  • From Friedrichstraße take the S 2, as described for “Arrival railway station Friedrichstraße“ (direction Blankenfelde).
  • Get off at the stop “Buckower Chaussee“.
  • Exit the S-Bahn stop in the direction Buckower Chaussee. The bus stop is located on the left of the tracks on the opposite side of the street.
  • Take bus X 11 (direction U Dahlem Dorf) or M11 (direction U Oskar-Helene-Heim) and get off at the stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee
  • Cross over Nahmitzer Damm and take the footpath which leads directly to our Institute.

The entire journey takes about 45 minutes.
