Travelling to the BfR in Alt-Marienfelde by rail
Please note that for travel within Berlin you need to buy a ticket for the tariff sectors “Berlin AB”. This ticket is valid for two hours on the S-Bahn (suburban railway), U-Bahn (underground railway) and bus. Return or round trips are not permitted. You can purchase the ticket from vending machines in the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations. Please don’t forget to stamp the ticket before starting your journey. In the bus you can purchase your ticket directly from the driver. He will also stamp it for you.
Arrival Berlin Central Station
- From here you can take all the S-Bahn trains (direction Friedrichstraße) to Friedrichstraße (one Station).
- From Friedrichstraße following the directions given for “Arrival Friedrichstraße railway station”.
The entire journey takes about 50 minutes.
Arrival Friedrichstraße railway station
(This is where all the regional trains stop which operate between Zoologischer Garten and Ostbahnhof)
Option 1
- At railway station Friedrichstraße take the suburban railway line S2 (direction Blankenfelde).
- Get off at the stop “Buckower Chaussee“.
- Exit the S-Bahn stop in the direction Buckower Chaussee. The bus stop is located on the left of the tracks on the opposite side of the street.
- Either take bus X11 (direction U Dahlem Dorf) or bus M11 (direction U Oscar-Helene-Heim or Unter den Eichen/Drakestraße). Get off at the stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee“
- At the shoe shop, turn into Marienfelder Allee which takes you onto the street Alt-Marienfelde. Continue on Alt-Marienfelde for about 300 metres until you reach BfR on the right.
The entire journey takes about 40 minutes.
Option 2
- At the railway station Friedrichstraße take the S2 (direction Lichterfelde Süd).
- Get off at the stop “Lankwitz“.
- Exit the S-Bahn stop in the direction of travel and follow the signs for the bus X83.
- Take bus X83 (direction Lichtenrade, Nahariyastraße or Marienfelde, Marienfelder Allee/Nahmitzer Damm). Get off at the stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee“
- Cross over Nahmitzer Damm at the pedestrian crossing and continue past the shoe shop into Marienfelder Allee. Continue along Marienfelder Allee and, after the bend, along what is then called Alt-Marienfelde. After about 300 metres you will reach BfR on the right.

Arrival railway station Zoologischer Garten
- Take U-Bahn (underground) line 9 (direction Rathaus Steglitz) to Rathaus Steglitz. The entrance to the underground station is located right outside the railway station “Zoologischer Garten“.
- At the underground station Rathaus Steglitz follow the signs for bus X83 (direction Lichtenrade, Nahariyastraße or Marienfelde, Marienfelder Allee/Nahmitzer Damm). Get off at the bus stop “Nahmitzer Damm/Marienfelder Allee“.
- Cross over Nahmitzer Damm at the pedestrian crossing and continue past the shoe shop into Marienfelder Allee. Continue along Marienfelder Allee and, after the bend, along what is then called Alt-Marienfelde. After about 300 metres you will reach BfR on the right.

Arrival Ostbahnhof railway station
- From here you can take all the S-Bahn trains (direction Zoologischer Garten) to Friedrichstraße.
- From Friedrichstraße following the directions given for “Arrival Friedrichstraße railway station”.
