BfR website with an optimised structure and new design

With a completely revamped website, the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) presents itself now on www.bfr.bund.de. With a new, revised user navigation and a modern, transparent design, guests of the website get better access to the work results of BfR. "Openness, willingness to dialogue and transparency - these three goals are now reflected even more clearly by the website," says Professor Dr. Dr. Andreas Hensel, President of BfR. "The internet is of major significance, above all for the risk communication activities of BfR. The latest work results are published by BfR essentially on its website. It is, therefore, an important goal for us to constantly upgrade our internet offering."

An important objective of the re-launch was to render the wealth of scientific contents even more readily accessible. The new website offers different accesses to the specialist topics of the Institute. The three focal themes Food Safety, Product Safety and Chemical Safety, are covered by separate sections with diverse contents. New interactive and multimedia offerings enhance the presentations. This includes a video on the activities of BfR which can be retrieved on the home page, interactive maps with direct access to the national and international co-operation partners of the Institute and the possibility to conveniently order BfR publications online. Proven components of the website - such as the A-Z index and the search function - have been optimised and integrated into the new website. All contents of the website are offered with barrier-free access.

The new platform will be continuously upgraded during the coming months and provided with additional functionalities. Special emphasis is placed on search engine optimisation and specific offerings for the different target groups of BfR from the fields of science, politics, business, non-governmental organisations, associations, public institutions, media and consumers.
