Import and Export (IMEX) Database

The IMEX Database contains current lists of plants and trawlers which are authorised by the public authority responsible for veterinary and food control and which are published by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in the Bundesanzeiger (Federal Gazette).

If registered plants are also governed by an announcement obligation (e.g. repackaging plants for fishery products), then they are listed here, too. As a supplement to the official announcements in the Bundesanzeiger, which are made at longer intervals, the regularly updated database gives the circles (manufacturers, commerce, monitoring and other authorities as well as consumers in Germany and abroad) involved in food production and trade an opportunity to obtain information at any time about the current position.

The Federal Agency for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) is in charge of these lists. New entries are made with the proviso that a definitive examination will be undertaken by BMEL. BfR cannot, therefore, assume any liability for the correctness of the data.

Categories of plants

The list contains the following categories of plants:

  • Abattoirs (meat)
  • Cutting plants (meat)

  • any special provisions (e.g. "authorisation suspended")
