BfR is "workandfamily"-certified

In 2015, the institute successfully passed the "workandfamily" audit for the third time. The audit attests to the commitment of the BfR to a systematic process to ensure a family-conscious personnel policy. This process is subject to re-auditing every three years. The certificate is issued by berufundfamilie GmbH. Certified employers are dedicated to the strategic development of their family-oriented activities.

Family-oriented measures at the BfR

BfR staff benefit from family-oriented measures. They currently include:

  • flexible work hours
  • different part-time models
  • continued education for staff on leave due to family commitments
  • guest and parent-child offices at both locations
  • cooperating with a family service provider in the areas of elder and emergency child care
  • alternating teleworking models
  • information and workshops on the subject of domestic care as well as
  • counselling programmes

Before the next audit, the BfR is planning to take additional measures such as defining its position in relation to the Family Care Leave Act, evaluating the implemented teleworking models. In the coming years, family-friendly measures will notably focus on increasingly sensitising executive staff members to the issue of making work and family life more compatible.

"workandfamily" audit

This audit supports employers in their efforts to create an attractive balance between employer goals and employee interests. At the beginning of the auditing process, the status quo of family-oriented measures already implemented is determined. Additional possibilities are then systematically developed and customised solutions conceived and implemented. Formulating binding target agreements, the audit aims to raise family-awareness within the BfR.
