BfR Committee for Nutrition, Dietetic Products, Novel Foods and Allergies

The BfR Committee for Nutrition, Dietetic Products, Novel Foods and Allergies supports BfR in its tasks of preparing scientific opinions on food safety and consumer protection with regard to human health, providing expert advice to the federal ministries and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) and, sharing its scientific expertise with international bodies.

Tasks of the BfR Committee

The Committee has the task of advising BfR on issues relating to  the assessment of health risks linked to food ingredients, conventional foods (dietary supplements, fortified food), foods for special dietetic purposes (e.g. for infants and toddlers, pregnant and breastfeeding women), novel foods and novel food ingredients. Furthermore, the Committee advises BfR on specific issues related to nutritional risks and allergies caused by food.

Members of the BfR Committee

Experts from universities, the medical field, industry, State control bodies and federal research agencies were appointed as members of the BfR Committee for Nutrition, Dietetic Products, Novel Foods and Allergies.
