In future, BfR will also propose maximum residue levels for active biocide substances – as it does already for active pesticide substances. However, a process has not been established for this.
The statutory rules and regulations in which maximum residue levels for active biocide substances in foods and feeds will be laid down have likewise not yet been decided upon. There is an ongoing discussion regarding whether maximum levels for applications to which livestock is exposed should be derived from the regulation governing veterinary medicinal products and whether maximum levels for applications to which plants or plant products are exposed should be derived from Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005 governing active pesticide substances. A decision has not yet been made in this respect.
