Pesticides
Pesticides serve to control and repel harmful organisms and pests (articulata,
worms, rodents, etc.). Within the framework of official pest control pursuant
to § 18 Infections Protection Act only those agents may be used which have
been tested by BfR (formerly BgVV) and the Federal Environmental Agency and officially made
known in the List of the tested and recognised
agents and methods for the control of animal pests in accordance with § 10c
Federal Epidemics Act.
At present, the health assessment of pesticides has not been stipulated by law
aside from the agents used pursuant to § 18 Protection against Infections
Act (formerly §10c Federal Epidemics Act). Since there have repeatedly
been notifications of health disorders after the use of pesticides, BfR has
frequently adopted a position in the past in response to inquiries.
